iSlideRuleHD Scales - P
"P" Scales
Ps
The Ps (formerly the P scale in earlier versions of iSlideRuleHD) scale (also known as the Pythagorean scale) is normally found on the top or bottom rule, but may also be on the slide, and when used with the D and A scales (or C and B scales) can calculate √(1 - s²), or with the S scale, a more accurate calculation of the cosine of small angles.  Scale ranges from 0.995 to 0.0.

Formula: Ps = √(1 - s²)
Pt

The Pt scale, another Pythagorean scale) is normally placed close by the Ps scale.  This scale calculates √(1 + t²).  The scale ranges from 0.0 to 10.

Formula Pt = √(1 + t²)
